Interpreter Services

Languages Services:
Language interpretation, or simply interpretation, is a linguistic mediation activity that consists in transmitting oral or sign language/sign language speech, resulting in equivalent speech in a different language, either oral or sign language. The product resulting from such activity is also called interpretation. The discipline, processes, and results of interpretation are called translation studies.

In professional language, interpretation denotes the facilitation of communication from one form of language to its equivalent (or an approximate equivalent) in another form of language. Interpretation denotes the actual product of the present work, that is, the message thus rendered in speech, sign language, written language, non-manual signs, or another form of language. This important distinction is noted in order to avoid confusion.

An interpreter is a person who converts a thought or expression from a source language into an expression with comparable meaning in a target language in "real time". The interpreter's job is to convey all the semantic elements (tone and register) and all the intent and feeling of the message that the speaker in the source language addresses to the recipients in the target language.

Do you know the difference between simultaneous and consecutive translation?

In simultaneous interpretation:
For a more faithful and noise-free interpretation the interpreter performs his work isolated by an acoustic booth, translating the words together with the speech of the speaker and by means of electronic devices his translated speech reaches the listeners.

Simultaneous interpretation is more concerned with the content said by the speaker than with its form, transmitting the information quickly and assertively.

This translation model is ideal for lectures, conferences, meetings, debates, and the like, as it allows people from different countries to participate in the same event by following the visual information in conjunction with a speech.

Advantages of simultaneous translation:
  • More people from different countries in the same event
  • Does not compromise the time of the event;
  • Audiovisuals can be watched together;
  • All participants receive the same information in their language;

Consecutive interpretation:
Performing its translation after a few seconds or between the speaker's pauses, consecutive translation does not require the use of special equipment. This model of translation is more suitable for small events, because process demands more time for execution.

Advantages:
  • Linguist does not require specific equipment
  • Can be used in any type of environment
  • Greater fidelity to the speaker's speech
